My husband and I visited St. Croix in August to do some research on moving there and, of course, to vacation. I talked to some people about the schooling. Most I talked to said public school isn't an option for them; most do private schools. Does anyone home school?

Hi - homeschooler here! We have been homeschooling for at least 2 years - may be more I lost tack - lol. There is a large group of home schoolers here on STX and it keeps growing with the cost o living going up and people's dissatisfaction with both private and public schools. The blog site for the homeschooles on STX is http://www.homeschoolingintheusvi.blogspot.com there are scheduled field trips, get togethers, PE mornings, mini classes, etc. Children in the homeschool community range from PreK - 12th.There is no real oversight by the DOE here so you can pick whatever curriculum you want and simply file the paperwork(1 page) with the DOE and then do your thing. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
