Hi again,

My boyfriend is looking for a job with a scuba dive shop. He has some PADI certs and is looking to work and get his additional certs to Dive Master when we get to STT. Anyone know of any dive shops that might be looking for an assistant or someone to work part/full time (he also is computer techie) in shop?

Any info would be very appreciated!

Hello Jaybird,

You might try visiting some of the dive operators web sites and then contact the various companies, maybe get a fax number for sending resume. You likely won't find anything from away, often employers like to see you on island particularly in jobs where lots of seasonal people get hired but will give you people to follow up with once on island or if you are planning a pre-move to go see and talk to. Also, we are getting into low season right now; season picks up again in late Nov.- Dec.

Jaybird;
try Underwater Safaris , my best friend did the very thing you are describing and is a divemaster with them, He worked in their retail shop "Waterworld Outfitters" in Havensite mall while he got all his certs. Ask for Ann,their website is www.scubadivevi.com

Also have him look up marine surveyors - they use divers to inspect the bottoms of the boats. Unfortunately, also seasonal.

9 months later and now out of high season........two dive shop prospects for jobs NEVER materialized. Not an optimistic business to want to get into from my perhaps biased perspective. Sadly.

Certainly not this time of year - for sure.
