Does anyone happen to know what the competitive flying times for a Pilot Position (First Officer) at Seaborne Airlines are? One of us just got laid off from our current flying job, but nothing is going to keep us from heading down to St. Croix! Bad timing but we have a little money stashed away for things like this. We both hold ATP AMEL ratings (For those of you that know what that means). Will that be competitive?
On a brighter note one of us still has a job in St. Croix starting in about a week and a half. We are going through the pre-move jitters, but all and all we are very excited about the move. We can't wait to meet all the great people from the board! You all have been so helpful! Thanks!

Seaborne always is in need of pilots. Give them a call. The flight time requirements fluctuate now and then depending on how short they are on pilots.

Seaborne is avidly searching for pilots with the experience necessary to sit left seat. They also send new candidates to the simulator in Toronto regularly. They only had 2 planes flying this past holiday week due to a lack of first officers to keep a third plane in the air.

I heard it was due to lack of captains. But maybe I heard wrong.

I met with Seaborne this week. They are in desperate need of captains. As you can imagine it is difficult to find pilots with float time and Twin Otter time. I think that they might be getting another plane or two around March and are trying to get approval to go into the BVIs. Looks like a great place to work, and the people that are in charge are genuinely good people dedicated to providing safe service. I hope that clears some things up for everyone.

Short on Captains......just so everyone knows. If you have not heard or read the papers, every airline with few execptions has problems especially since 9/11. I travel between the islands a lot and have used Cape Air, Eagle and Seaborne. I love Seaborne!! It is a fun way to travel and it's convenient. I'm not saying they don't have their snags but hey these guys do an incredible job working off the water. So, if it takes a few months for Seaborne to increase their frequency as more captains are brought on line then I can deal with a little inconvenience. Maybe this will clear some questions up. Blue Skies!!!

Al....

If you can fly a Twin Otter on floats in Captain capacity, you may want to apply at Seaborne.
