There are many hairstyling places in the V.I. but the caveat still applies whatever sort of a position you're looking for in whatever field - do a PMV and stop in to see owners personally. It's almost guaranteed that no business owner will take the time to respond to you if you're not physically here. On the positive side, I know of a couple of stylists who managed to find positions very quickly once they arrived, and with all your experience it may be very easy. Good luck!

It has always seemed to me that hair dressing is one of those skills that is transferable (and needed) everywhere! Good luck!

I agree with East Ender, and want to add the having experience with cutting and styling hair in the African-American community stateside will make it even easier to find work here in the islands. After all, the nady statistics section of the vimovingcenter.com site confirms that more than three-fourths of the USVI population are black.

I'm sure you'll do well wherever you land because experienced stylists are a necessity everywhere, and people will seek them out. We drive all the way across the island to get to our favorite stylist (she's well worth the effort).

Good luck!
