Seeking Legal Employment in STX

I am an attorney licensed in California for twenty years whose main area of practice is and has been Estate Planning and intellectual Property. I've decided to relocate to St. Croix and would appreciate any information about legal employment on the island, particularly in the areas mentioned above.

Any assistance from a possible employer or employers would be appreciated since I am actively seeking long-term employment on the island. Can anyone help a brother from Harlem who has decided to quit the Continental U.S. and move to the islands permanently?

Thanks

Hi Wizard -

I have been looking for attorneys who dabble in intellectual property on St. Croix for some time now. I am moving to STX permanently in January. If you are in need of a good secretary once on island, I have run the gammet in all areas of IP for the last ten years and would love to talk more!

Should you happen to hear of anybody looking for your qualifications, I would appreciate any knowledge you may be able to share. In the meantime, I wish you the best of luck in your search for future employment!

Cheers!

Hi again Wizard -

Thanks for your message. I would love to stay in touch and hear how your job search goes. I realize I'm probably committing career suicide, but I'm ready for a change and can't wait to embrace life on St. Croix. I'm also from California and have worked in the SF Bay Area as well as San Diego over the course of the last ten years. Maybe we know some of the same folks? Feel free to private message me if you'd care to share notes. Again, in any event, I sincerely wish you all the best in your quest for a change of scenery.

There is a need for estate planning in the islands. Living Trusts are so important for anyone with real estate holdings. There are thousands and thousands of acres on STX that are untouchable due to the fact that they have been in probate for generations... without an end in sight.

A good estate planning lawyer who can educate the local population on probate vs living trusts and how that affects their children and grandchildren upon their deaths would be doing a great service to the community.

Chris,
You MUST get a better nick-name for the board... how about "Smitty"?
