I must have missed the ongoing development proposals as I thought one was being proposed but not "several":

That $1 million is peanuts and will be gone in the first few days. Glad to see the legislature is looking for more specifics.

The same legislature that wants $1.5 million to give away as they see fit without having to document it? That same legislature?

I recall that that proposal was withdrawn.

According to the Press, Mapp signed it.

ST. CROIX — In separate press releases issued on Monday, Senators Kenneth Gittens and Neville James clarified what they said were erroneous statements making the rounds in the media concerning a $1.5 million charity bill passed by the 31st Legislature in September and signed into law by Governor Kenneth Mapp.

I'll have to see whats what!

Well, I'm sure one of the Senators will give you a donation.

How many of your horses can vote? :@)

"The committee also heard testimony on a lease on St. Croix for agricultural land to set up a freshwater shrimp aquaculture business. Kalayar Myint and Duane Sydney plan to use their $30,000 prize in the annual 13D entrepreneurship contest to set up the venture. The V.I. Government plans to lease the pair five acres of former V.I. Corp. land that is zoned for agriculture, at a cost of $100 per year.

The lease was held in committee to resolve some issues with the lease's drafting language, but senators were highly supportive of the project."

It was in this article, LF.

Good luck with your Chinese Visitors. Just come up to Niagara Falls Canada for a weekend and you will know what I mean. I'm sure it maybe a cultural difference, but they lack manners, understanding of our western culture and aren't the most pleasant people to be around. I'm sure they would say the same when we go there, as Americans are known to be snobbish and rude. Also if you build resorts for them, you will have to hire people who can speak Chinese as most of the Chinese tourists in Niagara Falls speak very little English. So that means many jobs will need to go to people outside the island. Just based on my observations and some "stories" I've heard from my mother in law that works in the tourist industry in NF.

Highly doubt any influx will ever happen. Just our governor spouting - come to think of it he'd make a great model for a gargoyle. I'm envisioning a few hundred of them built into the grandiose luxury hotel he plans, a lasting reminder of his greatness.

I think someone with artistic talent could combine the two images and come up with a very fetching design.

After reading this, it seems the key expenditure involved is, "building a relationship with China" which no doubt includes several more trips to that country for the governor and his entourage. If the bill does pass, one can only hope that the mandated accounting will be very carefully scrutinized.
