Hey J

I saw in one of your messages that you are shipping a car down. I was just curious how much that costs and how long it takes? I am considering doing that as well since my car is in good condition

Hello Becky,

Here are a few estimates others have posted in the past few months:

Steve-
Tropical Shipping $800
Export Power of Attorney (needed for Tropical to handle paperwork)
$50
USVI Vehicle Road Tax $.16 a lb.(2899lbs x .16) $463.84
Personal Use Tax: (Value - $1000) x 4% $22065(Blue Book for my car) x 4% $882.60
Licensing/Registration/Title (DMV) $150.00
Registration Fee $240.00
Customs Brokerage $80.00
Managed Freight Handling Fee $160.00
Total $2826.44

Teresa -
$900/shipping
$350/brokerage fees (we hired them to take care of everything and deliver truck to us - we didn't want to deal with customs nor the DMV)
$701.76/road tax ($.16 per pound - our truck weighed 4,386 pounds)
$991/personal use tax (4% of the value of the car - not what you pay for it - I think they use Kelly Blue Book value)
$130/DMV title and registration fee

Sqeeterz-
SHIPPING w/Tropical $1050
EXCISE TAX $297.06 (4% of Bll-Of-Sale from seller)
ROAD TAX $656.00 (.16 x 4100 lbs)
MOVING PERMIT $5.00 (one day only)
REG/TITLE $140

Hey Becky -

sorry I just saw your message. We got a quote from Tropical for 1500 from florida and a quote for 1800 from NJ from another company - the name is escaping my mind. I'll get it and send it to you. Where are you shipping from?
