Howdy-
I'm considering shipping a car back stateside. Does anyone have advice or good/bad experiences with a particular company?

Also, if it goes into Miami, does anyone know about import taxes, etc? Shipping it down here ended up in a few hundred in import taxes/customs. Would like to clarify the situation before agreeing.

Would appreciate any advice!
Thanks!

Those duties were already paid. Shipping is your only issue.

A friend of mine recently used VI Cargo to ship his car from St Croix to Ft Lauderdale.,Florida. He had called around and VI Cargo had the best price and in the end was very pleased with the "service/delivery time" aspect. Since he was moving to Tampa, he had to drive his car from Ft Lauderdale area to Tampa.

MissJustice is correct --shipping from VI to states has no import tax tacked onto your cost.

One of my friends just shipped her car bak through VI cargo and was very happy with the service. She had to pick it up in West Palm Beach though, not Miami.

Vi Cargo's Florida port is the Port of Palm Beach. Just like you have to pick up your vehicle at the port here, you have to pick up your vehicle at the port there.

My advice is to get under your car and give it a good critical inspection. More than a few people have shipped their cars back to the U.S. to realize they're not in great shape as the salt air and island roads take a real toll on the undercarriage of cars that have been on island about 3 years or more. Problem is you may not be able to sell your car for a decent price on island and may have no choice but to ship it back in the end.
