Has anyone shipped a car from Houston? It would be easier for my to ship from there instead of Miami

Do they still ship out of Lake Charles, LA?

Our container was shipped from California(Oakland) via rail to Houston on 9/23/12.
Went on ship from Houston to Jamaica, to St Martin and then over to STX. As I remember when tracking it, the container was transferred form ship to ship at each location. Not sure if that would happen to vehicles.
Container arrived here at my home 11/21/12.
Cars were shipped from Medley Florida on 10/22/12 arrived and picked up on 10/31/12.
I would think if time and exposure to damage was an issue that the drive to Florida would be well worth it. JMO

CA, if you don't mind me asking, what shipping company did you use and how much did it cost? We will be moving from the San Diego area. Good to know it takes about 2 months in transit.
