Hi Everyone,

My husband and I will be in San Juan next week for a couple of days. We wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for any great places that you may have shopped for furniture, tile, bathroom fixtures, cabinets, etc., anything dealing with home improvement. Your input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Molly

Molly,
Very positive experience at Italceramica for tile. Located at 948 Roosevelt Ave. SJU, 787-781-2229 (not far from Plaza Las Americas). We dealt with Hector, very helpful.

Enjoy San Juan!

I do enjoy Plaza Las Americas now and then if you are in need of an updated wardrobe. In the Plaza Carolina area you will find different assorted shopping options. In addition to the shopping mall, there is a Costco and a Walmart for those in withdrawal, and if you head further east on the main highway between those two stores you will come across a Sam's Club and then a long series of home improvement/contractor type stores. Building supplies of all kinds can be found at Home Depot, tile warehouses, appliance stores, furniture stores, electrical and plumbing and lighting stores, etc. The builder supply store/warehouses run for a couple miles once you find them. It gets to be overload if you try to explore them all in limited time.

For your large or heavy purchases, you can call Flemmings on STX and they have drivers with transport vehicles in San Juan who can pick up your items and deliver them to the Water Spirit barge for delivery on STX a few days later. Flemmings can also deliver them to your home upon arrival on-island (once they clear customs) if you don't have a vehicle to pick them up yourself. I've found them very useful and user-friendly when buying large items in San Juan.

Also, if you go to any of the major retailers in Plaza Las Americas (e.g. Sears), they are familiar with VI shoppers and can arrange for your items to be shipped at a reasonable cost. I have heard Home Depot also offers this service. Have fun!!!
