I know the USVI has some pretty restrictive laws concerning bringing in guns and ammo.
Are there any specific restrictions for shotguns or the ammunition they use?

I also have a pistol permit in NY. Will that help me out in anyway down there? I only ask because its about to expire and I was thinking of not renewing it since I plan to be a full-time resident of St. Croix in less than two years. I do not plan to own a pistol once I get down there, only the shotgun and maybe a rifle.

Thanks

Yes, I did. I was a little too fast and careless there.

After reading the VIPD's Firearms rules and regulations, I was surprised that even shotgun owners needed to go through the whole permit process.

Last New Years Eve, after hearing all the guns being fired into the air at midnight, I never imagined this was the case. I can't imagine any right minded person who had to go through such a scrutinizing process would risk their licence in such a truly ludicrous and unlawful display.

It concerns me that the unlawful may very well out weigh the lawful.
I'll get that paperwork going right away!

singlefin, those are not legal weapons that you heard.

Most guns in the VI are illegal.
