Just wondering where are all the oldies from the past two, or so, years -

Former Ohio Guy, Hipcrip, Pamela, STT Resident, etc., etc...............

All that good advice, all that rotten sense of humor..........

Certainly annoyed me sometimes, but in the end they certainly steared me right and saved me a bundle of money and helped me avoid possible months of turmoil . Not to mention they were always entertaining and kept me coming back.

Nothing sticky, sweet - just directly to the point. Take it or leave it. Ah, the good ol' days!!

Well - Hip Crip I'm not sure about - she took a vacation and then her health got in the way and then she had some "ism" here, then she was busy again. Last we heard, JNRHome checked on her and she was still there with her husband and having good and bad days. That was a while back.

STT Resident - please see one of my blithering posts somewhere on this page. Flicked away with a finger.

Island Ed banished himself. He and the moderator couldn't agree on the correct formula for "quirky" - he's an individualist these days, living somewhere in the Sahara and blowing dust your way.

Island Paul may still lurk, may not. Maybe he left for the Sahara, too.

Former Ohio Guy and Pamela - good question.....hmmm.....there's an enormous turnover on this board and you gotta wonder what happened with some of these folks.....still around, loving life? Staying, going? I'd like to know if there's still any of the oldies out there that lurk from time to time - tell us your stories!

Angela,

I believed you asked this same question a week ago and BeckyR responded and then Islander pulled the thread, presumably because this topic is not considered relevant to relocating to the USVI or helpful for maintaining board harmony. I think pulling a thread is Islander's way of hinting that you should think of something else to type.

So, so sorry, DNTW8up - I also seem to have chemo brain. I'll think of something else to type.

But the answer is - just like everywhere else, people come and people go. Some never move and lose interest in talking about moving. Some move, stay for a while, leave and lose interest. Those who stay assimilate into island life and post less and less.

I do wonder about FOG and Rockport John. FOG posted extensively about his hikes on STX and suddenly he stopped. I assume he finished his journey and moved on to somewhere else. I met Rockport John once. He was an older gentleman and I'd love to know if he's still around island someplace or if he went back. I am sad that HipCrip probably doesn't have the strength to post -- I hope she still reads. Penny, if you do, I think of you often.

And me, I enjoy reading the posts and answering when I have something to say. But, after more than 5 years of reading and posting, there is really very little left to say. And as I get older and crankier, the questions often seem sillier.

The thing is that FOG was so knowlegeable about plants, etc. He really prepared himself fwell for island life and I seem to remember he wanted to start a nursery business. I hope it went well for him.

Shortly after FOG stopped posting I sent both PMs and regular e-mail to two addresses I found for him. No response at all and, if I recall correctly, one of the e-mails came back as undeliverable.

His departure was a real puzzle, since he seemed ideally equipped from every standpoint to have a long happy life on STX.

I too miss Hip Crip's posts and am devastated that Islander has silenced STT Resident by blocking her access. She had been here from the first and had much wisdom to impart. I've learned a LOT from her, and I say this as someone who visits frequently but does not intend to move.

Yes, I know, I've probably just assured that this thread will get yanked. 🙁 (Just can't muster a smiley right now).

She didn't win the Miss USVI Popularity contest....she lacked one vote.....how come I can see your post when I click on this thread, but I can't see it on the main page? That's weird....

Life evolves. I still check in everyday to see what's happening, in the two newspapers and several webcams to see what kind of day you have. If I see a post in a quick read that I feel I have some insight about, I'll perhpas take the time to write. However, I feel fresh blood, so to speak, might have a more significant current voice than mine - since I'm now almost 2 years being gone. Magical place fof some - worn off magic for others. Sometimes when you see the Wizard behind the curtain, the magic disappears, never to be reclaimed.

I'm still around as well. I read the board almost daily, but have reduced my postings to nearly zero. I want to help newbies, but am not so interested in participating in the sometimes bizarro arguments that have become all too common in the last year or so. If there is a subject that catches my eye, I still am willing to post, such as this one. My best to the old guard and welcome to the newbies...

Hey, I'm back! See my post tonight titled Still here - thanks for asking. It's been a tough year but still around, loving life and improving the brain! Chemo brain, indeed. I just smile and say "this is your brain on menopause". Have missed you guys and girls!
