hi all
i'm a 40ish female planning a move to st croix in a couple months. i really enjoyed the mail and responses to Last months Jitters posting! It's nice to hear the nerves are normal for I'm a big ball of excitment and concern mixed. I've moved all around the U.S. but now realize this move is in a league of it's own and wish i'd started planning a year ago. gee the things i've already learned about myself - i'm sure you all have great stories....

anyway, my questions have to do with rentals....
1. anyone have suggestions on some shorter term rentals? something not as expensive as a hotel that can be used while looking for a longer term place?
2. in the likely hood i make the leap before finding a job (a bit scary but a real possibility) do you think i'm going to have problems getting an apartment or will my upfront money be ok?

thanks ahead of time for any suggestions. many thanks to all who contribute to this message board.

fyi - post didn't seem to go through, trying a 2nd time....

Doreen,

Are you still looking for STX apts? I got some leads on Friday in an email from my future boss.

Bay Gardens Condominiums: 340-773-2211 -- Rent usually runs from $575-$800. These are close to public transportation and shopping.

Long Reef Condominiums: 340-773-2000 & Orange Grove Apartments: 340-773-6901 -- Close to Bay Gardens and also have easy access to public transportation, etc. Not sure of cost range.

St. C Condominiums: 340-773-6341 and Questa Verde Condominiums: 340-773-0944 -- These are usually handled through a rental agent, but one of the tenants suggested calling the office and asking if any owners are looking for a tenant. This might help you get a better rate. Questa Verde is not too far off the main road.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted as to when you're coming. I'll be on STX by 8/25 if all goes well. I start my new job on 8/30. We'll have to have monthly get-togethers on STX, like they do on STT, if there aren't any already.

Kinsey

hi Kinsey
Yes I'm still looking. Thank you so much for the info. I'll be there around the 8th of August so I'll have a look. I don't plan to move until end of Sept or Oct. but yes if they don't have get togethers on STX it would be great to start one. I've found this board to be a great source of info and support.

Good luck on the move I'm sure it will go fine. Hope the job works out well also.

Doreen
