St. Croix - best in one day?

I've written in the past about our interest in St. Croix (and possibly moving one day, even if for a short time period). My hubby and I will be on the island for one day this winter - we decided to do a cruise to check out five places we've never been before. I wanted to ask some local folks what you would do in one day on the island. We want to relax some, but sitting on a beach for hours isn't our style.

We would like to find (i) a good snorkeling beach (we have our own gear and are self-sufficient) and a good restaurant/bar OR (ii) we'd like a recommedation for a small day sailing charter. Or, we are open to ideas. If you were showing St. Croix to your friends and only had one day, where would you take them?

Your cruise ship will dock at the F'sted pier.
(i) Good snorkeling beach at Sand Castle Hotel, a short stroll down the beach. (Turn right when leaving the pier.)
(ii) Plenty of short sailing charters available out of F'sted, C'sted, and Green Cay Marina.

Guest for a day? Take a taxi to C'sted and walk around the town. There are plenty of taxis when the cruise ship docks.

Depends on what the guest likes. I have a guest coming on Friday for 6 days. We will snorkel, do an intro to SCUBA, sail, shop, try a number of restaurants, visit Wym Estate, walk the C'sted Boardwalk, see Point Udall, kayak, jetski, and, maybe do some fishing.

Thanks Edward. How do we find these small sailing charters? I've found Bilinda, but she is rather expensive for two.

I'm a buyer's agent here and I'd be happy to give you an "island tour" - it would take about 3 - 4 hours and I could give you a nice introduction to this gorgeous island and then drop you at Sand Castles for some snorkeling (or where ever you'd like). Have done this for others who are considering St Croix as a place to live and they really learned a lot from it.
