Hi all. I'm 24 and looking for a cool place to live on St. John permanently. Anyone know how much a 1 bedroom might cost and where i might find one? I'm still in the states and would be open to living w others to make it cheaper, but would probly like to meet them first.

I hear that busy season is Nov to May. Do many people leave (for like a month) during the rainy / hurricane season down there?

You can check the classifieds at www.stjohnnews.com, but your best bet is to come down here and stay at a place like the Inn at Tamarind Court while checking bulletin boards at places like Connections and Starfish, and finding a place to stay through word of mouth. My guess is a one-bedroom would be around $1k per month, but I'm really not sure.
Tourist season is essentially from November to May, and hurricane season is roughly June-October. Some people do leave island during hurricane season, some don't, but the amount of tourists is noticably less during this time.
Hope this answers some of your questions.

Hi Sally,

I checked connections when I was last down there and prices for a 1 bedroom were about 1000-1200 month in Cruz Bay and Pastory. Coral Bay was more around 800 but you would probably need transportation. My husband and I are hoping to move down this summer too if all goes right. I hope to go ahead of him and find a rental first. Sorry no real firsthand experience to offer. I just visited in February and will be making my next visit to scope it out in May. I am 28.
