How's it going everyone!?.. I've been kicking around the idea of coming to St.Thomas for the season to work/play for a while. I've had a little bit of correspondence with some members of the boards so far but still have some general questions if you could help me out.

I'm trying to get a feel for the employment situation on the island. I have been in the mortgage business here in Maryland for the last four years, have management experience, customer services, sales etc. My initial instinct though is to seek out a service job on the island IE waiting tables or bar-tending. I have limited savings though and I know that its really hard to get a job unless you're already living there. So my idea is one partly based on blind faith. I would like to come down there with a round trip ticket, start looking for a job, looking for a place to stay hopefully a roommate situation and end up staying. Of course if I cant put all the pieces together I'll have the return flight back. I would most likely be doing this for about a week and really cant afford resort or hotel prices. So 2nd question is does anyone know of a place that would be rather inexpensive to stay for a weeks time or perhaps you know of someone that may have a spare bedroom that I could rent for a week. I'm 29, professional, and very down to Earth. Thanks in advance for any responses PM me if you want or you can email me at [email protected].
