Hello Asti,

Yes.... but there are regulations to fishing in terms of areas that you can fish in... and also fish/marine life you can spear - for example it is illegal to spear lobster...

Read through regulations on this site at

http://vinow.com/general_usvi/more_info/fishing/

As for grocery shopping, you don't have that many options 🙂 and to get all the things you might want you may have to shop at a couple of them or all depending on where you move too. For example on St. Croix you might stop at K-mart to get some things, Pueblo or Plaza Extra to get others... or maybe a small gas station convience store if you are in a hurry. On St. Thomas... same K-mart, Cost U Less or Price Mart, Pueblo, Plaza Extra, maybe Marina Market for special things... St. John Starfish Market... there are a few on each island - and folks shop at all of them really.

St John has Marina Market, Pine Peace Market, Starfish, Dolphin, Simple Feast, and there are small stores in coral bay, also.
I think Marina is the most reasonable.
Starfish has the most selection but is also most expensive for what you get.
I wouldnt shop at Dolphin if i was starving and they gave their food away.
I like Simple Feast for hard to find items and they have the best deli on the island IMO.
