Hello my name is John. My friend and i are looking into starting a business (food service) in USVI, however i am a little puzzled on approaching the research.
We are both USA citizens, do we need and documentations? who do we regeester with?
We also plan on living there, do we need to do anything special for that?
thank you much for your time
-John

Have you ever been to the Virgins? If not, I suggest you come down for 2-3 weeks and take a good look around. Try to determine if the service you plan to provide is needed; decide which island is right for you; talk to others who provide the same/similar service; generally get a feel for how it would be to live and own a business here.

But the first thing I would do is order a copy of the Settlers Handbook advertised on this site.

Good Luck.

Hello John,

The information, id that is generally asked for, from applying for a job to a bank account is about the same - your social security card, an id - usually a license or voters id, passport or birth certificate to show nationality. Nothing else is necessary.

Business registration - well you need to get a business license - you can find the specifics for that on this web site under Busincess Scene -

https://vimovingcenter.com/business_scene/

You need to do different things to get a business license - the specifics are at that link.

Good idea to get the book Linda suggested, its right at the top of this board - if you scroll up.

Definately do your research as to which island would best sustain the business venture you have in mind, come down for a pre-move visit for a few weeks to you can scope out whats here already and a good location, talk to others in business and see what you can find out - in other words do your research.

Good Luck.
