We'll be on STCX starting Oct 14th. A friend of ours has offered us lodging at his home on the east end, however we'd like to spend a good amount of time west and in northside. Are there any other motels/cottages that I won't find on-line. The same lodging keeps popping up.

Also, would live music happen to be more in F'sted vs. C'sted?

We are both reggae musicians and looking for the scene.....any help is greatly appreciated.

Live music? I would think F'sted would have more, but it's all a big blend mostly. You should perhaps check out the Mount Victory campsite if you're into that kind of thing for lodging. It's in the middle of the rainforest. The Frederiksted Hotel is an inexpensive hotel. I can't think of any other cheap lodging at the moment, though.

Not being rude, but wouldn't renting a car be cheaper than getting a hotel, then you could spend time with your friend, get to the places you need to, and not insult him by refusing his hospitality.

Just a thought and please don't take it the wrong way on paper it sounds like I was being snotty but I did not intend that.

Hello Jahson,

Contact Whealan at

http://www.islandboydesigns.com/

While his web site is about his art and work; he is a jeweler, he plays music with a band on island and I believe could share some insight with you about the music/reggae scene on St. Croix.

The about us page on his site has info, number, e-mail.

No Problem Jahson; please give us a review of your trip/experiences when you get to St. Croix. All the best!

There is a group there in STX and Midnite is their name. They usually play on the night of the Full Moon...I am not sure about this month though~I think they are in St. Thomas...check out this website as they have many artists from STX and may have some performances lined up on the island.... www.mtneborecords.com

Well Jenny, I think you will be in for quite a pleasurable experience seeing Midnite perform. I see them everytime they come to S. California. Just saw them 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I will not be island bound for another 2 yrs, but I am counting the days. Enjoy their show and believe me, they will be worth the drive to other surrounding areas as well. They just finished NY and Philly. Have a good time!!!!
