STJ: Maho Bay Resort?

Can anyone give me any feedback about Maho Bay Resort on STJ?

My wife and I will be coming in early May. If we save money on lodging, we can stay longer and do more while we are there. The idea/concept they have looks great on the web, but you know how reliable that can be sometimes!

Just wondering/hoping anyone has seen it, stayed there and if you have any pointers about the place.

We usually use our lodging for sleep (not meals or entertainment), so the "extras" associated with many resorts are not what we are after...

Thanks!

Maho Bay Resort is really an eco-camp, which you will know from their website. It's great! There are a lot of steps from the beach to the "tents", and there aren't bathrooms in the tents, so you share in a communal building. The showers are cold. Maho is located a long way from Cruz Bay, but there are regular taxi shuttles. They don't run late at night though. I think there is parking for rental cars. That's all the bad. There's lots of good. You can believe whatever they said on their website.

Just what I was hoping to hear!

We'll be renting a car, so that part is not a problem and we are not "late nighters" by any stretch of the imagination...

I was hoping that the website was not leaving out big issues that I need to be aware of...

WoooHooo! More time on the islands sounds like a possibility!

Thanks!

I stayed there when i was 18 (1993). one morning i woke up with 3 roommates killing a scorpion that was on the middle of my chest. other than that, it was fantastic. 🙂 the on-site piano bar (if it's still there) was great.

I don't think I'll share your scorpion story with my wife!

What is going to end up happening is we will end up moving down there, then the "real" job hunt begins.

I have no fear of finding temporary work while we search for our real "niche".

No worries man! I am sure you will do fine down there. Sounded like you had some great qualifications in the right line of work. I am gettting more impatient by the day. November seems so far away.
