I was going to update the sticker on my car today, I did not realize they are closed for the holiday. Anyway I will go Tue AM. Will I get nabbed for the expired sticker when I get there on Tue the 2nd? Perhaps I should park nearby and get a moving permit before I bring the vehicle in? Does anyone know what time they re-open on Tue morning? Thank you, and have a good afternoon.

My experience has been that if its just a couple days they let it slide, sort of. So you do inspection and registration like normal. But when you pay for the new sticker they will charge for a moving permit (even if you didn't get one) and a small penalty for being late. As of a couple months ago, the moving permit was $5 and penalty was around $4 for 2-3 days late (it likely goes up each day its overdue).

If I run late, I just go ahead and get the moving permit and pay for it, then go thru inspection and registration. Easy to do.
