The St. Croix Animal Welfare Center has a fabulous program called Pets from Paradise that works with no-kill shelters and rescue organizations stateside to relocate /rehome some of the shelter animals that are highly adoptable but just aren't finding homes here and have been in the shelter too long . AWC has found hundreds of homes stateside for our "Crucian Critters" over the last 5 years and the program is very rewarding! Wecurrently need a St. Thomas volunteer(s) to help with a transport issue at the STT airport. If you love our island critters... maybe you could consider helping?

One of the ways they travel is STX to STT to Stateside. We currently need a couple of reliable and honest volunteers in St. Thomas that would be willing to be part of saving these animals. The volunteer would be contacted about a potential pet that would travel and a itinerary planned that would fit with their schedule. They would then meet the animal in STT, deliver it to the American AirLines Counter, pay the fee (we would provide the monies) and check the pet in to fly cargo. That's pretty much it. The frequency would depend on stateside shelters that are ready to recieve but it would be likely once a week or less.

If you would be interested in helping be part of this "happy tail"... please PM me, or contact the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center and ask for someone with the Pets from Paradise program. Thanks!

By the way... if you live stateside and your local shelter has a shortage of adoptable pets or a waiting list for small pets... they may be intereested in this program. We work through the petfinder.com and directly with shelters. Ask your shelter if they would consider being a partner and lets save more of these great animals lives! Who knows, a phone call could be a life saver. (Especially seems to be needed in larger cities where there is a high demand for pet adoption/small dogs). Thanks!
