Is the Italian restaurant in Charlotte Amalie , near Hard Rock, still there? What's the name of it?
Also, deciper the phone numbers...the first three digits indicate you live in what area?

Fagioli's is the name of it.

First 3 digits are 340 in all of the VI.

Used to be you could tell by the first three digits but we have so many new exchanges you really can't anymore.

Some of the exchanges are:

St. Croix 692, 712, 713, 719, 772, 773, 778

St. Thomas/St. John 775, 774, 714, 693, 776, 715

Here is a post made by Ronnie a while back about phone #s that gives more info.

There are phones in St. Thomas that have the 693 exchange as well as the 779!
St. Croix has 772, 773, 712,713, 778, 692.
St. John has 776 and 693 and 779. When you see a number that has a 776-6XXX, that is St. John.
St. Thomas has the 776 exchange as well. Also 774, 775, 777, 714, 715. It's pretty much a crap shoot to figure between STT and STJ s they are now giving the same numbers for both islands. STX so far, has not infiltrated STT and STJ.
Ronnie
PS. There are also the cell numbers, not island specific.
690,513,514,473,474,771,998,787.

Ah, remember the good ole days when you would give your number as 5XXXX, because the 77 was assumed??

East Ender,

We now know what that means. We have actually had people give us their number in the 5#### fashion and wondered why they didn't give us the whole number. St. Thomas is growing up! 🙂

Hello East Ender,

I can remember when numbers were given just with the 4 digits because the 5 was assumed. 😛

Would be interesting to find out when the first phones were installed in the VI. Ronnie do you know?
