Understand the Boardwalk to a huge hit, with boats going down. Anyone got any photos to share?

I don't think that is a current photo. From what I'm told it's really bad at the boardwalk.

We walked the boardwalk yesterday and I think I stopped counting sunk boats after I got to about 10. Lots of carnage up close and personal and in some cases intimately in contact with the boardwalk (parts of which will need to be rebuilt.) Some of the piers were heavily damaged by boats tied up (which sank.) Someone there said the dock master was out of town and probably won't like what he sees when he returns...

Go to http://www.stormcarib.com/reports/current/stcroix.shtml

Kelli Barton posted a bunch of pics of damaged boats and damaged boardwalk in C'sted.

And why didn't YOU, Joan, create links to the individual pics so they'd be visible in your post?? Sheesh! Save us the work already!

This is terrible, I feel so bad for the boat and business owners, and all of us residents are going to miss the boardwalk until its repaired.

On the flipside, I spent a lot of time on MD's Eastern Shore and I was always under the impression that the reason you made a waterfront area out of "boards" aka a "boardwalk" is that its relatively cheap, easy, and quick to replace when a storm hits. AKA its a bit of disposable business. Maybe I'm wrong, but hopefully we get the boardwalk replaced pretty quickly.

We had dinner at Rumrunners last night. Boardwalk is open from the fort to Rumrunners and then closed until just before Angry Nates. The railing is gone on that portion. It was bad, but not as bad as the pictures would indicate. I do feel for the boat owners who have to figure out how to get thier boats off the boardwalk.
