I'm off island but need to have someone pick up, replace, hook-up and take away a washer. Does anyone know of someone who does this? I found some great deals at HD, but according to their site, they do not deliver. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Carlos Furniture does. I believe free delivery and I think they charge $50 to take the old one away

Also Sears/K-Mart has appliances and delivery.

We've purchased appliances at Carlos (range and dishwasher) and Sears (refrigerator). Both had good service. Carlos had the range to our house and connected within hours of the purchase.

We're packing new washer/dryer to bring to STX from FL. We found availability/selection on island was limited and expensive for washers/dryers for some reason.

Oscar's has kept our old washer going until we get the replacement there.

Thanks I emailed Carlos, will let you all know what I find out for future searches. Right now the one that I like Home Depot has on sale, so let's see how close they get to that price. I will negotiate it once I hear back from them.Thanks.

Selection and availability are certainly limited on STX and varies over time. I got a good deal on a pair of full size washer/dryer from Carlos a while back. They had bought something like a trailer load of them from Whirlpool and were able to pass on the savings, when they're gone, they're gone. Guess there isn't enough volume on STX for the HD to be in the delivery/install business. if you haven't already you should check Carlos and some of the others directly for any deals they may have. I had actually done mine over the phone before ever going into the store.

Carlos' does. We were renting when ours went kaput and landlord called them, they setup new one and took away the old one. While there, they helped me kill 3 baby mice that were under the machine. Great group of well mannered men.

You can find a trucking service to deliver and haul away but you'd probably have to get someone to hook it up. I've had delivery guys do so in the past. Just depends. It's not exactly rocket science.

Not rocket science but the Carlos guys didn't install the strain relief on my dryer cord and didn't have the neutral/ground wire at all tight which was a fire hazard. The latter was not completely their fault as there was a problem with the terminal and the screw wouldn't allow it to tighten but they should have checked it and not let it that way. Luckily I had to pull the dryer out later and found and fixed those issues myself.
