Anyone have any experience with long haired cats and the temperatures in STX?
My wife and I will be moving within the next year with our 2 dogs, 3 cats and one eyed goldfish.
Two of the cats have long hair and we were wondering how they handle the heat. If its not well, does anyone know of any good cat groomers to help shorten said hair? Perhaps a lion cut?

I have several friends on STT who brought long-haired cats with them and the cats don't seem to have any problems adapting to the heat at all but they do seem to have occasional issues with hairballs and, of course, more shedding than you find with the typical short haired "island" cats. None has ever resorted to a rather humiliating lion or buzz cut (:D) but regular grooming and brushing to keep the tangles at bay obviously is a good practice.

We brought 2 longhair cats down 2 years ago and have not had any problems. Oldtart is right with the shedding thing. They shed like crazy, so I brush tem at least once a week. They love the attention too. Furballs are more frequent but I have them on furball control food and that helps quite a bit. We live without A/C and only ceiling fans and they have had no isses.

I knew someone years ago that had 2 cats. Telly and Mr T
Telly got a buzz cut on his head and Mr T obviously got the mohawk. When the clippers were turned on they came running. 🙂

Thanks very much! I had a short hair and 2 long hairs a while back. Gave the 2 long hairs lion cuts to see how they'd like it.
One of them hated us for weeks. The other loved his!.

Even short hair cats shed like crazy here! Yesterday I swept under my couch and I thought we had secretly adopted another cat! 😮
