We are settling on our condo next week.(!!!!!) But I need to keep my day job for a little while longer in PA. So won't be there often. We will not be renting. We are wondering if there are any businesses on the island, short of a full-blown property management company, that cater to people like us: need someone to check on the place occasionally and do light cleaning before we come and after we leave. Or do the regular property management companies offer light services that we are seeking? I've searched the classifieds and other references and am not finding what I am looking for.

Try www.viphonebook.com, try calling local realtors they all either have a property management company or can recommend one. Almost all the companies on island will easily do what you are asking for. You can even get one to pay all your bills, etc.

Jet Development offers this service to homeowners. In addition to checking they have the resources to make repairs if necessary. Call Jim Richards the owner at 340-513-1504.

My friend Michelle would be a good candidate for helping you. She does cleaning work for realtors on the island and also is very responsible, trustworthy, and fearless. She is also a great painter, inside or out, decorative finishes, house decorator, etc. If you want to PM me, I will give you her contact info.

Thanks everyone for the advice and offers. A little busy right now getting the paperwork done and packing. But will pursue after the ink is dry and I have the keys to the castle. Appreciate the responses.

Ahhh if you are in the process of closing just ask your realtor to recommend someone they trust....if you trust them that is. 🙂 Also if this is a condo, stop by your condo office. If it is a large enough complex they will have someone on file they trust to do this type of work.

Thanks - So far I trust the realtor as far as the sale goes. But wasn't thrilled with the mortgage broker he steered me to. Wanted to pursue via other avenues. The condo office is a good idea. It's a small association. But it can't hurt to try.
Arriving tomorrow. Settle Thursday. Watch the STX economy boom on Friday as I shop for household goods.
This board has been very valuable to us in knowing what to expect.
