Has anyone purchased a dishwasher from stock on island recently? Is there a store with a decent selection, and (hopefully) a reasonable price?

Carlos. Good after purchase service, which is important as long as things last here.

Thanks for all the info. HD does not stock dishwashers, and it can take a couple months for an order to get on island. Best carries the older style, last time I checked he did not have any 'tall tub' models. Again, ordering can take weeks, though I have ordered from him in the past. Never purchased from Carlos, so I guess we will take a look there. We like the Stainless interiors, but this is a machine for a rental so most likely we will not go for the extra price. Don't like the SS exteriors for rentals at all, have had tenants mess them up, and of course you can't paint over the rust when it happens if the machine lives long enough!

I had the same problems finding a decent D/W on island the last time I bought one which was just a few years ago. After plodding around from store to store and unable to find what I wanted I finally ordered one online. The store had free continental US delivery so I shipped to the stateside depot of an island supplier I dealt with who had weekly trailers coming in. Even with the cost of the shipping I spent quite a bit less on exactly what I needed than I could have found it for locally even if it were available. Unfortunately, as much as one likes to support local businesses it's just not always possible.

I bought my new one at Home Depot/STT but had to have my appliance repair guy install after disconnecting the old one.
HD did deliver tho. Wonders of wonders.

They don't stock here regularly because they are expensive to run (and still requires before and after cleaning and therefore not popular with locals).
Water here is expensive and electricity costs are criminal 5x that of the states.
Air salinity makes a stainless steel model a must.

Have to disagree. The energy/water saver models are a far cry from the much older models and a fully loaded dishwasher is less expensive to run versus washing by hand which uses way more water and (water pump/heater) electricity. Air dry works just fine, no need to waste electricity on automatic heat drying. I purchased off-island because the few models available here weren't the "deep" ones I wanted to accommodate larger baking trays, etc. The necessity for stainless is likely very dependent on where you live. I never had a stainless and the old one I replaced lasted for over 12 years and was as clean and un-pitted on the last day as it was on the first.
