Hey, islanders - I am considering visiting. Any "Dating Do's and Dont's" to know about STX? Any safe singles clubs? Any places to stay away from? What months do tourists come? Thanks for any helpful advice.

What is a singles club? Getting a 70 swingers picture in my mind. 😉

The only place to go at night in stx are the bars. Usually bars with live music will be more popular. But there's no place that bans the couples. In downtown c'sted the places to go are Angry Nates, Deck Bar, Styx, Brew Pub, Bombay, & Club 54. Its nothing like stateside. No dancing, just music if your lucky and hanging out. If you're new to the island and don't have great street smarts stay on the boardwalk and king street until you know your way around more in c'sted.

Season offically starts Dec 15, but you won't really notice they are here until Xmas/New Years week.

no dancing!?!?

ever see kurt play, there's never a person in the place that isn't dancing. lol

people dance at most of the bars where there is live music, and my buddy bootz dj's at some of the bars from time to time, and people definitely let loose. twofer tuesdays at brew pub get seriously rowdy later at night.

there's always plenty of stuff going on with the 20-something singles crowd.

Ok, I should have said not much dancing. The last couple of kurt shows in c'sted there hasn't been much dancing either. He doesn't play much, not like some of the other bands either. I've heard he's quite high to hire. As far as the dancing in the bars its usually just the really drunk people. Its not like stateside when you can usually go to a real club and go dancing any night. Its more about hanging out with friends here.

Bootz I just find annoying, much like his step dad.

There is always something going on. But not what a stateside person would be expecting. Its more like bars, Normas, beach parties and private parties.

People of all ages dance at the Divi Casino at the bar, that has a dance floor, and live entertainment at night.

Hi DixieChick - No, I do not wear a poodle skirt - too HOT in STX! I do not wear black n white saddle shoes either --- just sandals! I was on island a few years ago. I remember going to a dance that had a DJ nicknamed "FORKLIFT!" It was at the Deep End and we had fun. I heard that he went back to his home island. I remember dancing the merengue with a gentleman named Luis. He was a fine dancer! Does anyone remember them? If economy does not get better here in the states shortly, I might escape and come to STX! DixChic, do you like to do the Chicken Dance?!
