We are coming for another visit and just realized our return flight is out of STT! Oops. So we know we can get a flight for $100/person which seems pretty steep, and the ferry isn't operating anymore. Is there a grass roots way to get from STX to STT early am on Sunday April 26? Would it be possible to pay a local some $$ to take us there who might be going anyway? Appreciate the help and can't wait meet more of you on our second trip!

Highly doubt it but if your flight is leaving STT too early for you to make the flight connection from STX, suggest you fly in the day before and overnight on STT. The Best Western Emerald Beach Resort, Island Beachcomber and Best Western Caribe are all on Lindbergh Bay on the airport road and accept single night reservations. You can walk to the terminal from all three.

Pay the $100 and be done with it. You'll be right at the airport when you arrive.

Relying on someone you don't know to take you the 36 miles from C'sted to the harbor in Charlotte Amalie, STT in a boat you don't know is seaworthy, has been USCG inspected and has all the proper emergency and safety gear in addition to the long boat ride (longer in a smaller boat) in choppy or rough seas or weather, simply isn't worth the hassle, IMO. Then you get to flag down a taxi to get you to airport and arrive in a bedraggled state.

There's a reason the ferry to STX was maybe not so fondly known as the "Vomit Comet."

There is no grassroots transportation between STX and STT. Best to make flight reservations now, because seats are limited and often sell out on weekends.

Seaflight out the airport is $79 per person, one way.

Do they land at airport? Not familiar with them.

If they don't, the Op will have to incurr taxi and baggage costs to get to STT airport.

Here's a list of airplanes that service the VI.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation, wahini!

I have used Sea Flight. When I did, they left from Flight Center.

Yes, they leave out of airport and arrive at airport.

Maybe like this:

I just tried it on Orbitz, and it offered STX and STT flights.

The airport hotels will cost more than the flight.

The good news is your flight home is not scheduled until April 26th so you have time to adjust reservations. From what I hear, St. Thomas is not like St. Martin where you can approach and drop off people at the Airport from a small craft dingy. [ I know a sailor who did this while living on small boat off St. Martin]

If your in St. Croix---- better get to St. Thomas the day before flight.

Best bet would be to make it to St Thomas the day before your scheduled flight.

Realistically, any way you can [ Small Boat, Small Plane Inter-Island Commuter Plane, or Helicopter Charter ] whatever the cost. Get a hotel room or plan to arrive early day of outgoing flight. I would not rely on a unproven mode of travel on same day of major travel!

Plan ahead to be in St. Thomas the day before your flight so there is no need to stress out the morning of such an important long-range flight home .

Safe Travels

Maybe paying the airline's change fee and flying in/out of STX instead of STT is the better option, vs. extra flights and hotels both ways.

Or take advantage of the mistake and enjoy STT while you're there.
