First...trw ...the chicken story with the dogs...EEEWWWW! (mine did the same thing when we moved in to my old house with my folks...it involved death for the chicken and it's 'last egg'..eeewww!)
Alexandra...EXTRA eeeeewwwwww!!! They are just another form of Satan,..they never die... ICK, Yuck...etc. etc....aask anyone who knows me, Ive been cursed my whole life to the point where people don't invite me over 'cause they 'follow' me! (I figure I was married to one in a past life and the divorce was nasty).
And lastly, trw, (as I have my feet WAY off the ground) are you talking about land crabs or Hermit crabs? I remember the 'migration' of Hermits across the roads out where I think you live (North Shore?) but land crabs are really big with long legs and will chase people (when we were small, vulnerable children...yikes!). The Hermit crabs always made me almost crash my car 'cause you just HAVE to avoid them....(really hard to do) ...or else ....EEEEWWWWWW!!!!

nope land crabs, you know the ones that rear up at you on their back legs and click their front claws at you ,one of my first renters in my renter stories found one in the closet and talk about shrieking and screaming they can climb up pretty good because it was on the top shelf hahahaha, but now with all the dogs we never get any fun things in the yard anymore

so the other half came home awhile ago and wanted to know why the dogs were locked outside(i locked them out because they had been rolling in chicken and they stink) and i said "oh i was cleaning and i did not want them running around the house while i was being busy" and so he goes out to play with them and then comes back in and tells me theres a dead chicken in the yard and they're playing with it and i just said "really" thats gross and so now he's giving them baths and cleaning up the yard. hahahahaha there are days when i just don't want to deal with stuff and it's just easier to pretend "i never saw that" lol

had another truck load of garbage and old ceramic tiles today, so i went to the dumpster over in mon bijou, lol i took a pocket full of change with for ricardo and just like clockwork he was there so he "helped" me and all he asked for was 2 cigarettes so thats what he got, then went to bank of stcroix in peters rest and the place was empty and then over to cost you less, while prices for each item were reasonable it all adds up quickly, morgans topic today seemed to be discrimination so that was interesting to hear on the drive home

Trw, you are naughty.

Did anyone see gas prices today? Up 20 cents a gallon. That's crazy.

Rember to go and buy forever stamps at the post office before prices go up. They are 41 cents and you can still use them even if rates go higher.

Thanks. Here is my travel story:

I left Louisville yesterday at 1 pm. Got to Miami at 3:30 and almost immediately boarded a plane for SJU. After sitting on the tarmac for 40 minutes, they off loaded us because of a mechanical issue. An hour later they announce the plane is ok but no crew is available. At 10 pm we finally board the SAME plane and get to SJU at 12:30 am. Got a voucher for the Best Western (very nice hotel at the San Juan airport) Finally get into bed at 1:30 am. 5:30 wake up call, a little comp breakfast, back through security and I'm at the gate for my 35 minute flight to STX. Get on the bus at 7:30 - board the plane for my 8 am flight. At 8:40 they announce there are maintenance issues and we are changing planes. Off the plane, onto the bus, over to another plane. Now it's 9 am. 15 minutes later the captain announces that this delay is caused by transfering the flight clearance from the first plane to this plane. I arrived on STX at 10:30 am.

Now THATS what I call "island time" Almost 22 hours to fly 5 hours and 40 minutes!!!

so the dishwasher kid that got shot last week, well his funeral is on saturday, his dad stopped by tonight to let me know about the funeral, and i guess i don't care about the circumsatnces surrounding it, you have one really dead kid and 2 parents that hated each other and were divorced left over to deal with the pain and no side is right, and no side is wrong, and some days are tough. i'm going to bed so i can get up tomorrow and feed breakfast to tourists and just forget and say mindless pretty things to the people that pay my wage

I remember 2 years ago it was so easy to fly back to the states on American. A short flight that was half the price that they have now. Here to Miami and Miami to Norfolk Va. Now that is a 24 hour flight because when you get to Miami you have missed the connection to Norfolk and the reverse on the way back. I am always searching for different flights but cannot find any good ones out of STX. I don't know why. Maybe some of you have the answer. In any case Linda I am happy you made it back. Maybe we should all schedule our flights back to the states together and charter a plane. I have to go back at least 4 times a year. Hubby and I were getting our pilots license back in the states. I broke my foot and was grounded. He was almost done when we moved here and hasn't had the time to finish. Can't afford a plane right now but it sure would be nice not to fly commercial anymore.

Trw, get a good nights sleep.

I met a really nice couple on Tuesday who are here on a PMV with thoughts of relocating around July 1st. We did the whole circle island tour (more of a figure 8, actually) and it "only" took 7 hours and 20 minutes. The island is bigger than some people think. Tuesday also ended well with an accepted contract on one of my listings just in time for the sellers to have their new baby girl this week.

Wednesday was one of those extremely glamorous days in real estate. Unclogging stopped up shower drains, fixing non-working light fixtures, meeting a roofer/cistern guy to check on a roof leak and get a cistern pump primed, showing rentals, etc. Woo Hoo!

Today I get to wait around for an appliance repair guy to come and fix my dryer that was broken by the last appliance guy who came in to simply put on a new belt... but he put on one that was too small and it sheared off the pulley wheel on the motor, so now I need a new motor as well as a new belt. He also did something while he had hands and tools inside the stackable set and there is now a water leak from the washer, as well. A $35 repair turned into a $300 repair. I will cross my fingers that the new appliance repair guy does the job correctly and doesn't create new problems along the way. I've scratched one appliance guy permanently off my list for future repairs. And the guy has the audacity to think I ought to pay him a couple hundred for having come out and broken my machine and installing the wrong part!

Just picked up a 3" dead centipede off my bedroom floor. It was being swarmed by ants and I suppose now they are upset with me for disrupting their breakfast. If I were an ant, I don't think that centipede would be on my list of favorite delicacies, but you never know. Anyone ever eat a centipede? Do they taste like chicken? Or like geckos?

it's just beautiful outside right now,it's so quiet up here, as soon as the other half gets up we're going over to gallows bay to buy a pedestal sink for the main bathroom,i don't like the vanity we have because it just ends up being a hiding place for things that crawl.

went to the plumbing showroom over in gallows bay, they had one pedestal sink style and it was identical to the one we had in Mpls,so we bought it $180. and fixtures $90., then over to h and h for a brake job on the truck, we had all the stuff needed we just wanted them to install them for us, the guy said no mechanics on saturday and come back on monday at 8am and it'll take half a day, lol so we made the appointment, then i remembered the Goodyear place by hess so we thought we'd check them out, went there lots of mechanics working the guy said no problem and had it done in 2 hours for 110 plus 20 for a tip to the guy that did the work, i asked him whats up with the business and he said they are new and are taking on H and H and i told him we'd be back.

JJ is well except for a cough that is irritated by the dust in the air. It comes and goes and we don't know what is causing it.

Life with JJ this past week.
Stools, chairs and ladders will give you access to any and all parts of the house.
The mosquito netting over my bed is a great place to swing and yell like Tarzan.
If you are hot the refrigerator is a nice place to cool off.
Lotions and creams feel very nice on your skin. The more the better. If you put some on the floor it is fun to slide on.
It is funny when the dogs chase the cat. It helps when you carry the cat to the dogs and say get her.
Another accomplishment is learning how to turn on the air conditioning by his self.
Playing T ball in the house is not a good idea.
Ceiling fans can knock a t ball pretty far.
Doug and JJ thought a tent in the middle of our bedroom would be a nice addition to our decor.
He knows how to make tang all by himself. The dogs will clean up the mess.
Same with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
Fake bugs in mommy's bed will make her scream and daddy laugh.
Umbrellas don't make good parachutes
Anything broken in the house needs new batteries and can be taken apart with a screwdriver.

Last week at a resturant a little girl about JJs age came over to our table wanting to play. She had white blonde hair down to her waist, big round blue eyes and a precious little sun dress. JJ would not speak to her and if she looked at him he looked down. Finally in a shaky little voice he whispered to me, "mommy she is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Is she a princess?" I told him, yes she is dear.

What a wonderful Mother's Day post!! Thank you - went great with my morning coffee! Our four are now ages 17 - 23, and though it's an incredible adventure to watch them grow and venture out on their own, I'd go back to those days of "explore and discover" in a heartbeat!! What fun...thanks for sharing...and continue to maintain a constant sense of humor....you'll need it through the years! 🙂

Also want to thank all of you for keeping this thread going! We have a vacation villa in STX that we get to when we can (not nearly often enough!) and you definitely help feed my "STX fix" from here in the Cleveland area, where it is now cloudy, with approaching rain and way too cool for May!I I was hoping to join in while we were down on spring break with my own version of "Stx today" - but we got so involved in house projects and squeezing in "enjoy Stx time" that that never happened!

Happy Mother's Day to all! Enjoy that Caribbean blue and some sunshine and keep your comments coming! We hope to return in August!!

Thanks Cody. You're doing better than my second born! Haven't heard from her "yet". My three year old granddaughter called from Oregon this morning to wish me Happy Mother's Day. When I said, "Thank you. I love you.", she hung up! I love you is always the last thing we say, so she thought the conversation was over. Her mother did call back.:)

Happy Mother's Day to all other Moms!
