Hi - I am relocating to STT in April and I'd like to bring my manual transmission subaru outback with me. Is this a good car for the island, and will I be able to get it repaired? Thanks for your help/

We shipped our Subaru Outback (auto trans) when we relocated a few years ago and it's been a wonderful car to have on the island. I have not had a problem finding a mechanic to perform routine maintenance/minor repairs.

Yes and yes! There are a number of them down here, and it's a good car for STT. Just watch your ground clearance with some of the potholes.

Ground clearence is key as fdr states.
A friend just traded in her old car for something in better condition but now finds it too low to the ground for our roads and wants to find out if she can change out the tires to get better ground clearance. Any ideas?
As long as a vehicle has good power for climbing our steep hills and has good clearence, you should be good to go

What kind of car? Did the previous owner lowered it?

Another Yes! I have an Outback as my island car, and it's great. 8 inches of ground clearance, AWD for the unpaved roads, yet rides like a car and not a truck.
