Thank you Islander. I picked them on Sunday and put them in a brown paper bag. They were dessert tonight and just incredible. Teresa, you must try. Sort of an apple custard coming straight from the fruit!

Okay you two,

I am dying to try them. I have quite a few on my tree. How do I know if they are ripe? How exactly do you eat them or rather what part? Need to know soon as I am sure my neighbors are going to beat me to them! 🙂

I picked them and put them in a brown paper bag when they had a little white/yellowish color between the spiny looking things. Two days later I reached in the bag and, believe me, you will know when they are ripe. It will come apart in your hand. Take a spoon and eat the white part inside. Big, big great looking seeds - I see Sugar Apple jewlery coming soon!

If your neighbor beats you to them, come over to the house and grab some. Found the landmark you gave me and we are almost across the street from each other 🙂

Thanks Pamela,

I plan on checking it out first thing tomorrow morning! I know we are neighbors, someday I will find out which house! 🙂 If you see my cat and kittens let me know. Momma cat is a skinny calico that is going to get spayed soon, if I can catch her. Her kittens are almost grown - one black, one with black nose white feet, one with white nose and white feet. Their names are Cali, Kiko, K.C., and Missy in that order. They disappear and reappear as they choose. I am wondering if someone else has adopted them as well. Cali will let me pet her, but the kittens are still skittish. Anyway, since I feed them now, I guess they are mine. Hopefully they will all have their shots and be spayed or neutered soon. We seem to have too many cats around. Anyway, thanks for the info about the sugar apples. I never knew so many different fruits existed. Us Missourians just eat apples. 🙂

If the kittens and mama don't show up, I could spare a few 🙂
