Hello,

I am a teacher in upstate NY looking to move to the islands to make my home. I visited and fell in love of course. I am starting a new chapter in my life and where else would I rather be than some place as beautiful as the VI. My plan is to rent for a year and substitute teach and waitress and then after a year decide to make a decision. Does anyone have information on the process of substitute teaching, the school systems in general? Also, average cost of living for a single simple semi spartan lifestyle.

Thanks in advance.

🙂

Not too sure how substitute teaching works here. It's my first year and at my public high school if I'm off a day (sick or personal) my students don't have a sub. They just go to study hall which is either the cafeteria or they hang out on the picnic tables outside for the whole block.

Not much help I know. Sorry.

Maybe try calling the HR dept.
