Teaching In USVI

Hi!

I did a search and could not find an answer to my question so I hope someone can either direct me to an answer or help me with one. I am a Middle School Spanish teacher stateside and am considering a move to St. Thomas sometime over the next few years. I have noticed that the need for teachers has been mentioned a couple of times. Does this apply to language teachers? Where would I look for teaching positions? Will the local newspapers mail stateside? What is the atmosphere of a typical classroom?

Thanks!!

K: Language teachers have been needed the past year or two. The teachislands.vi web site was started in order to attract teachers. However, as with most jobs, it is better if you appear in person. If you look through the archives here you will see a recurring theme of people in charge who ignore phone calls and mail. This is part of doing business in the VI... You need some tenacity to endure.
