Sure, as long as the seventeen year old is a U.S. citizen.

thanks, he is. What types of jobs do you mostly see teens doing? What type of fast food shops are there? I mean, big chain stores.

On STT, for fast food there's Wendy's, McDs, KFC and Subway. For big chain stores there's K-Mart and Home Depot. I don't eat fast food so I don't pay close attention to their existence but I believe I've seen all of these places, except Home Depot, on STX.

Also, from experience, it is very hard for teens to find work because of a lack of jobs. I would suggest they go to Sunny Isles and go to every single store and submit an application to whoever is hiring. It would help if you use any connections you may have to secure a job. The Department of Labor can help teens get jobs too, but don't count on them as your only resource, as they can take awhile to get you set up with a job.

On STX, we have all of the same fast fast food places that were mentioned above, plus Dominos, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut. Dominos and Papa Johns offer delivery service (Papa Johns is now charging for delivery).

Although a lot of teens get jobs delivering pizza in the states, that's not something your son could do here. There are very few side roads that are named, so you must learn your way around here by landmarks -- for example, "turn left at the arts and crafts store, go past the school and past the sugar mill ruins until you see a white picket fence, then turn right at that fence - the house is at the top of the hill, on the left just past the rusty water tan with "TONKS" painted on it in pink spray paint." T=hHat's why there the few places that deliver usually only hire people who have grown up here or have lived here for a very long time.

(Note to STXians -- those are made up directions using real landmarks, so trying them would be a bad idea. *lol*)

Kathy,
I have teens in STX. Thier friends all work. Most of them work for the resorts. A few of the boys work at Carambola golf course as a caddy. They make alot of tips so the pay is pretty good.
Babysitting is a pretty good source of income for teenage girls.
One of my girls babysits occasionally and some of her friends do also.
