For someone that is moving to St. Croix is there anywhere that is a good place to stay temporarily (besides a hotel) while looking for more permanent housing? I see a place called Crystal Palace that is on St. Thomas that is recommended for new people. This place is owned by a gentleman named Ronnie that is a member here on the forum? I hope this information is correct and I don't have it all wrong. I can't find the thread where someone is recommending this place. Please correct me if I got the place and owner's name all wrong. LOL. So is there anywhere on St. Croix that is like that? Or is it just mainly going to be hotels. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to stay for 2 to 3 weeks? I am just trying to see my options and to see if there are places that rent weekly. A hotel would be ok for a week but if I could not find housing for 3 weeks or so then a hotel would start adding up in price real quick.

Check airbnb.com and type in st Croix usvi and tons of vacation rentals will pop up for day to day renting, weekly renting, monthly renting. Hope this helps! Way cheaper than a hotel!

Good morning Xenna.
Try putting your request on the classified section of this forum. I'm sure most people on here read both forums, but they tend to prefer rentals ad and inquiries be in classified.

Having said....:)...I have a great apartment on STX. I'll send you a PM.

Pam McFadden at Coldwell Banker handles a very affordable condo at Mill Harbour if it's available when you need it. I stayed there for three weeks last summer, and renting it for a month was less expensive than most hotels for only one week.

Check this site for an owner called roosterfish. He is a really helpful guy if he has a condo open for your dates & if a studio is big enough for you. Otherwise try airbnb.com. If all else fails & you decide a 1 bedroom with a postage stamp kitchen & bathroom is OK if it has a pool, the complex I live in usually can do a weekly, but I took it in desperation & prefer the other alternatives.

Thanks for the suggestions. I signed up on airbnb so I will go through those listings. Our plans are to try and moved down there in the next two years. We will be coming down there several different times in the next two years and staying for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. So we wanted to try and go ahead and maybe see different places, meet people etc. That way if we had a few places that we have already seen then when we got ready to move we would be able to know a few places to stay and maybe possibly have a place set up to move straight into. So if the place is not available at that time then we could just wait until it became available. That way were are not renting sight unseen. I know that may sound crazy and if we found a place that we really liked and waited for it to become available then it could possibly be a year or more before it became available. But if we just wanted to come on down, find a good rental for 3 weeks and go from there then we could do that also. We are going to be in a position to where we can be very flexible on when we move.

@ kakalee who is roosterfish. Do I just search his name in the search options? What is the name of the place where you were staying? If you don't want to list it you can PM me.

I guess I am a over planner. Even though I do over plan, about half of the time nothing goes according to my plan. LOL. So I just get it in my head that probably none of this will go the way I want it to and then it is a nice surprise if it does. But I still have to plan and start saving or else I will never meet my goals. I do that just in case my plans will work out for me. Isn't there a saying that says you have to plan like your are going to live forever but live each day like it is your last. I may have that saying all wrong also. LOL. Sorry. I often ramble.

Hey, if you have the luxury of over planning more power to you. We did not & Duane Hammond at Peter's Farm Condo was a huge help in getting us acquainted with STX so that we found a place within a week. If a search for roosterfish doesn't turn up a link to the ad here, he also lists on airbnb or you can call him at 340 277 5910 to find out how to see his pics, prices & availability. He is a great host, whereas the owner at my condo is merely a nice guy who isn't likely to have much time available.

Thank you for the information. Like I mentioned above, my over planning usually does not work out and all that time I spent on getting together information etc usually backfires and we end up doing something totally different or just going with the flow. My husband is very able at going with the flow and doing things on a whim. If things go haywire then he is ok with that. I am a lot better than I use to be. It seems anyone I know that just "does it" and doesn't over obsess with things get much better results because they are relaxed. And if it doesn't work out with them (whatever their situation is) they are ok with that and just find another route. Now there are somethings that need planning my husband and friends say but not to the extreme that I do and not everything. LOL.
