Nope. They were definitely avocados. The leaves and the tree of the calabash are completely different.

I have a few different avocado trees, including round ones and the elongated pear shape.

do they hang from the tree with a foot long stem? i have seen those trees at the botanical gardens and they were not called avacados

just looked up photos, interesting. it could be avacado

They are not calabash and yes, avocados can have foot long stems.
There are many, many diiferent varieties but you can believe what you choose.

Just don't eat them if you believe them to be calabash.

Yea Blu, we dont like the spicy mangos, only sweet ones 😉 I didnt know there was so many varieties until we went to STX and kept getting spicy ones.

Side Bar - we have a huge avacado tree thats not fruiting, should we toss down some fertilizer for it? Whats best?
