Ok, enough with the negativity, whether perceivced or actual,
Let's help all those who are truly torn about wanting to move here:
We all are different and come from different places...but one thing that unites is the idea that we are here (in the VI).
Residents ...list for our audience the top 2 reasons that come to mind that KEEP you in the VI.
Mine:
1. I love the diverse grouping of people.
2. I love the fact that the culture of the island prompts you to mind your manners no matter where you are and what time it is (i.e. Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Night.).

I love:
1. That you can have full conversations with strangers on the street, in a rest., in the Banco Popular line, in the.... Having come from cities where people do not speak to strangers unless to harass them, I find this refreshing; and,
2. (I hope I can articulate this correctly) I like the fact that everyone knows your business and is forgiving of that business. That is a generalization, but overall I have found that the community is very forgiving of human frailties that might in other communities render you a pariah. This can make for frustrating politics, etc., but is, in my opinion, a positive characteristic.
