Howdy folks!

I'm just here on the island for a few months, cleaning and painting a home purchased by a family friend.
I was talking to a lady at the bar the other day, and she mentioned that the founder of Talk Like a Pirate Day lives here on St. Croix and has a party for it every year. I love TLAPD and I have most of my costume parts here, except for my motorcycle boots which were way too heavy to bring down!

I looked on the official website and couldn't find anything about a party on St. Croix. The actual holiday is on Monday, but I thought there might be something tomorrow. Does anyone have any info? Is it invitation only?

If the rumors are untrue and there is no party, is there somewhere on-island where a pretend-pirate celebrating the holiday would be welcome? I plan on dressing up anyway, even if that just means going to the store and buying a bottle of rum for my grog!

Michael Belcheff.

I don't know if he is the "founder" of Talk Like a Pirate Day" but I know he is VERY VERY VERY into it and if anyone on island is doing something for this day it will be him. You can find him on FaceBook and get in touch with him, I don't want to give out his contact info. I am SURE he is doing something for the holiday. Just a couple of weeks ago he was going to all the different bars in full costume making a video just for TLAPD. He hasn't had one of his parties in a while but you will find him dressed up any day of the week.

Sept. 19, 2009

Frederickstad, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Ol' Chumbucket, Mad Sally and several o' the Junior Chumbuckets are stickin' close to their island home for the holiday. They're once again planning to attend Captain Killy's pirate party at Cane Bay, where "something special" is in the works. Last year's party featured pirate music, plenty of liquid refreshment, knife and flaming ax throwing, cannonball tossing, and more. (Don't you wish you lived on the islands?)

The date on that is from 2009.

I have not heard they are doing a party again in Cane Bay this year, but I could be wrong.

I just came home from a day at the beach and its late I know, but the party this year is at Davy Jones Locker. The old Deanna's downtown Christainsted. Half off beers and such if you come in costume. Mike and gang will be there. Wish I could have posted and let you know earlier. To far for me to travel but I am sure it will be a great time for all. Great bunch of friends, and I wish you all a great and safe time.!!!

Thanks for the help everyone! You've helped a lot with information about living in the VI, but this was probably the most important thing. LOL. I didn't even think about facebook, I'm one of those people who have a profile but NEVER check it.

Unfortunately during some tan-tan hauling I stepped into a nest of fireants and my feet/legs covered in bites. I had a pretty bad reaction and was in bed zonked out on antihistamines. Bummer. (td) :X
