Don't waste a click.

I saw it and thought it would be nice to share it. Don't worry, I will not do it again. My fault for being optimistic and thinking it would be appreciated.
These boards really suck more by the day.

Rowdy. I agree with you. I am known to go after posts but try (not always successfully) to go after bad information. Your post was nothing that should have inspired negativity

IMO, I would look elsewhere to move. The economy is DISMAL on STX and has no signs of being revived in the near future. Optimism does not fix the serious issues that the islands face. Also, the hospital may likely be one of the worst places to take employment at. Have you read the news at all regarding the hospital.

There is little development, skimpy tourism, high unemployment, high government subsidies, crumbling infrastructure, highest KW costs in the country (which are greatly attributing to the rest of the problems) and a dwindling tax base. Not a great set of economic attributes.

Hate to burst your bubble but you do need to look elsewhere or you will end up leaving with a lot less than you arrived with. A note of caution!

Thanks Tropo. Your cautions are why I'm keeping a keen eye on things there,...especially the hospital. I love STX and am hoping things at least show signs of turning around. Kind of hoping to get in near the bottom when there is no where to go but up. Assuming up is a realistic option. If I start off with a travel nursing position and evaluate from there, I think I'll have a good sense of how things really are and what they might become. At worst, it would be a 3-6 month working vacation with free housing and guaranteed salary from a U.S. Based travel nursing company. If I don't decide to stay, getting a nursing job anywhere in the states is easy if you have experience, which I do.

Rowdy, I think most people here are well educated and source their own news if they care about it. I read all of the on line papers dealing with the VI every day, as well as a few stateside papers. So in many cases, people that post a link to a news story, while helpful, may not know that we heard it on the radio news already and already read about it.

But not in every case.

I think what annoys people is giving any type of credit to source that you linked. They still delete any post that I make that disagrees with their journalism skills and ethics, or points out an error in the facts of a story. That alone makes them a non-credible source to me and many others.

My comment was regarding the content of the 'news item'. More of the same old same old story. Just like the Avis headline article last week that basically quoted Mapp saying that he wouldn't talk to potential buyers unless there was a sales agreement pending.
I don't seen anything optimistic in this 'news'. It was more like Kenny & Kurt were sitting around jabbering over a few bevies about how to get more press and Kenny tells Kurt he should have a news conference and mention Jobs and Hovensa in the same breath and low and behold we have a news event. Yet nothing has changed and the refinery is no closer to reopening than it was a week ago.

Rowdy - I like your posts so don't take it personal. I was commenting on the content, not shooting the messenger. Sorry bro.
