Good Morning. Sooo, as fate has it we are in need of some transmission work for our Land Rover. Any reliable transmission mechanics here on STX anyone can recommend?

Thanks!

Hi,
If not, or if you need parts, maybe a good used one through a freight forwarder? Try http://www.roverparts.com/ or http://www.roversnorth.com/store/ they sometimes have used parts or know who you could ship it to for rebuild.
Good luck

Not sure your model but it looks like they have reconditioned ones ready to ship, there is also a forum.

I have a 1970 SWB and I use Rovers North all the time - what year is your Land Rover? On the older ones, like everything on them, the transmission is pretty easy to work on, but the recon ones do just fine - certainly easy to put in.

Thank You all for the replies...I guess I wasn't to clear. I can order the parts on line fine...I need a mechanic. One that can pull apart the transmission and replace the parts, fluid, etc...

Any reliable transmission places/mechanics on STX...that is what I'm looking for.

It is a 2002 Land Rover.

Thanks again for all the great advice.

I was just thinking it is easier to find someone to swap it out then it is to crack one open.

I used to recommend MPH, but I no longer do.

-They serviced a transmission for me at the spec'd service interval. 1000mi later it was toast due to a seal failure which they had replaced.
-After a cooling system repair (which they had to do 2x) they refilled my cooling system with straight water. 1year later the water pump impeller was a lump of rust.
-At 85000 mi they replaced a clutch for me (during which they forgot to bleed my clutch hydraulic line and tighten the bolts between the driveshaft & differential) which lasted only 8000 mi.

That's three strikes. They're convenient and pleasant to deal with but I can't afford to have them work on my vehicles any more.

Although I have yet to try them, I have heard good reports about Jeff and Terry's.
