Transportation - mountain bike?

How tough is it moving to STT at first without having transportation. Is it feasible to get around on a mountain bike? Traffics bad? Im just thinking about how hard it would be living there and getting to work without a car. Im sure it differs from different parts of the island. What about the Red Hook area?

Thanks in Advance,
Wes Bradley

Mountain bike? nuh uh. You'd have to be stronger than Lance and even so you'd end up medivac'd to the states after being hit by a taxi. No shoulders on these roads. Steeeeeeep hills.

You *might* be able to live here without your own car. Depends on where you live and work. Lots of posts on this; see what you can dredge up with a search of this b oard.

Thanks Jules.

So I guess its worth it to go ahead and pay to get your vehicle shipped over.

But, if you want to save yourself lots of time and money, just buy a vehicle once you are on-island...they are plentiful. As a mater of fact, there is a '98 Malibu with only 58K on it for $3,300 for sale in the classified section of this site...
