Im a college student looking at going down to St. John and working for the VIERS and also considering trans. to UVI and would like to take a look at the school. The thing is I am indeed a poor student and plane tickets aren't oo cheap. I was wondering if anybody new of a yacht, ship, boat, vessel or whatever that maybe I could perhaps travel to the VI with and do work trade for my travel....?

any help would be great!

Monica

You might try looking at air fares over a long priod of time - they vary tremendously, from $300 or so to $800.

Which city are you leaving from? It varies depending on that.

I doubt they would ever be $300 from PIT or CLE.. The range could be anywhere from $400 to all the way up past $800. The trick is to not book your tickets too far in advance (i.e. 7+ months), and don't book them too soon (i.e. a few days). Of course this doesn't apply 100% of the time, but is a general guideline to go by.

We got tickets for June and August, 2004, for under $300 out of Philadelphia to St. Croix. We got them in April. That is the lowest I've seen in the past year. It is like a drunk sailor sets the rates between rounds of drinks. The fares vary wildly from day to day and from airline to airline.
