We will be traveling with $20K in cash to get set up. Does anyone have a recommendation as to whether or not travelers cheques, cash cards, or cash are the best way to go?

Hello Robin,

How about half in a certified bank check; you can use it to set up a bank account locally.

Carry travelers cheques.

Carry some cash but not a huge amount.

Use credit/debit cards when you can to pay for things.

Bring your check book from back home if you are keeping an account there; a few places will accept out of 'state' checks.

So a combination.
