Does anyone know what this tree is ? It is sprouting suckers and getting BIG. It's very pretty. I looked up 'snow in summer' and didn't see anything that looks like this one. I live on the North Side STT.....

Nobody knows ? Bummer. Guess I'll just have to take some down to the local nursery and hope they can identify it.

IF I find out, I'll post the answer.

I looked and looked at all my Caribbean plant and flower books and simply can't identify it without a closer look - take a cutting by Bryans Nursery across from the AG Dept - they are very good or at the very least can send you across the street - let us know and if you have any cuttings to propagate. Where did you get it??

It just GREW ... It was a scraggily looking tree thing so every year we just chopped it down ... got busy this year and didn't cut stuff down, and there it was !

Funny, that's also how we found the passion fruit vines. Had tons of passion fruit - and the flowers are gorgeous !

Maybe we should just leave things where they are until we know what the heck they are.
😀

Found it !

Snowbush – Breynia nivosa
is a rounded tropical shrub that is 5 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 7 feet wide. It has highly colored foliage that makes it a favorite with gardeners. The stems are bright red, while the papery, variegated leaves are rose, white and green. Since the leaves look like flowers, the plant is commonly called leaf flower.

I won't be cutting it down anymore 😀

That link has an awesome picture of this - and of course a half dozen or so other names for it.
