Well, I'm here on STT now - arrived on a late flight from Miami a couple hours ago. I'm waiting on my bank to OK shipping my car down here, so it'll probably be a month or two till it gets here. Having paid $6 to get a cab from the airport to Emerald Beach (I could have walked it had I known how close it was), I'm having second thoughts about using cabs for the next month. Are there agencies that will rent clunkers, or give a much better rate for 30-60 day auto rentals?

The smaller car rental companies frequently have better long-term rental prices than the large chains. Dependable Car Rental 774-2253 and Discount Car Rental 776-4858 are two that come to mind. You can check viphonebook.com for others.

Most 30 day rentals go for about +- $800.
Saving money on a short term rent is hard to do.
