Vacation/Rental

I am all new to the forum.  I have the ability to pick up a house potentially in the next yr or 2.  Looking to have a rental and place to visit along the way, with the idea to retire there possibly.  I plan on making visits regular then figuring on a purchase for rental opportunity.  Any other websites, items of knowledge or i guess just basic things to educate myself on?

Example:

I read in one article that the majority of the drinking water is caught off rain overflow into cisterns and then treated for drinking.
