Vegans in STX?

Hello, I am coming to STX for 2 months this summer and am wondering how easy/hard it is going to be for me to eat on the island. I have been vegan for 12 years (no meat, dairy, eggs, honey, etc.). Do any restaurants serve vegan-friendly options? Can you buy tofu and soy milk at the grocery stores? What about mock meats (soy hot dogs and veggie burgers)? Thanks!

All of those products are readily available on STX, at Plaza Extra for example. There are lots of vegetarians here, including some of the rastas. There are some vegan-friendly restaurants, like L'Khaime at Five Corners. Perhaps others here can name some more.

There are a lot of Rastafarians here, and many of them make a vegan lifestyle part of their spiritual practice. So it's not impossible to find vegan foods and personal care items. I can only think of one vegan restaurant off the top of my head, and that's L'Khaime which was previously mentioned, but I know there are others. I just couldn't say where without checking. And the meat substitutes are readily available--the UVI food service gets a lot of their products retail, and my standard order in the snack bar is a veggie burger with veggie bacon. So if they can get it, it shouldn't be difficult.

yep, you'll be safe shopping around STX for what you need. In addition to L'Khaime, you will enjoy Lalita's in C'sted and Uca's in Fredricksted, Health Specialist near Plaza east, Health Conscious on the road going south from Sunny Isle toward Hovensa, The Redemption food van just west of Golden Rock (near the lobster guy), I think ACE Roti can also fix you up (just West of C'sted), Sica's in F'sted...and there is always the Saturday market in LaReine for all your raw fruit and veggies....
