*In moving story #11, there are several charges listed regarding shipping a vehicle to the USVI. My question is "what if you buy a vehicle in the USVI, do you still have to pay the road tax, personal use tax, registration fee, etc?"

Hello Lisa,

Registration: If you bought a car on island or shipped one down you would need to do the registration part at DMV; inspection/registration is an annual thing and there is a fee each time.

Personal Use Tax is only on items (not just cars) brought into the territory by an individual for personal use. So its on things you ship here yourself; not applicable to buying a car on island.
